Silver medal

februar 24, 2009

Last year I participated in the Sock Knitters Pentathlon(SKP).

Every second month I frantically knitted my way through a pair of socks, desperately trying to be the first to complete. I never made first place, but came in second on the last two pairs. I also managed to finish fast enough on the first three pairs to to end up as number two when all pairs were added togehther.

My silver medal arrived a few days ago:

Soft merino tencel sockyarn in some of my favourite colors from indiedyer yarnpirate, the cutest sheepsoap from JBsoaps, stitchmarkers from thankewe, a bar of lavender hand butter from Wind Song Acres, Soak fiberwash and two great sockpatterns.

It’s the best medal I could get, and I hope to be able to use the yarn on new socks in this years SKP.

This must be the perfect timing for this:

The first pair of socks in the 2009 Sock Knitters Pentathlon, Salida.  Yarn: Araucania Ranco Solid, needles: 2.75.

I developed a serious case of first sock syndrome when I started these socks. I don’t know what happened. I knitted and knitted and knitted but the first sock never seemed to grow. I had to put it away for a few days and knit something else because it was such a slow knit. The second sock was a walk in the park in comparison! I love the finished product. The yarn is great and the color goes well with the pattern. All the knitstitches are twisted, which makes the socks elastic and they fit well, and the stitces are nice and even.
